Let’s Be Friends

I like meeting new people.  I like sitting down with strangers and digging deep until they feel like friends. I have loved being absorbed into the blogging community.  So much so that I want to be friends.

So come, stay awhile, and tell me a little (or a lot) about yourself.

Normally I would sit you down with a nice cup of coffee, but alas that is not a luxury we have. This will have to do . . .coffeeFeel free to answer some or all of these questions.

  1. What are some of your top things on your bucket list?
  2. What blog post are you the most proud of?  Leave me a link!
  3. Who has influenced your writing the most?  (i.e. friend, family member, author, fellow blogger).
  4. What is your weirdest quirk? (My weirdest quirk is that I dream anywhere from 1-4 times a night, some of which are lucid dreams.  In the rare case I don’t dream, I wake up feeling like I haven’t even slept.)
  5. What are you most afraid of?
  6. What makes you happy?
  7. What advice would you give your younger self?

Thanks for being my friend, one can never have too many these days.  Feel free to grill me with questions as well.

  4. What are some of your top things on your bucket list? Travel to Gran Canaria in Spain
What blog post are you the most proud of? Leave me a link! I have a few, here is a recent one: http://athomaspointofview.com/2015/06/19/my-fathers-day-gift-forgiveness/
Who has influenced your writing the most? (i.e. friend, family member, author, fellow blogger). My best friend. She supports me all the time.
What is your weirdest quirk? I can go a week or more without cutting on my television.
What are you most afraid of? Not being a good mother.
What makes you happy? Listening to my son laugh.
What advice would you give your younger self? Don’t hide your true self. You were meant to be a star.

What do you do in your spare time?
Do you believe in life after death?
    Favorite color?
Why did you decide to blog?
Why did you start this thread?

    • Thank you for sharing I enjoyed reading your answers! Isn’t it crazy how often we think we have to hide our true selves from “shining too bright”.

What do you do in your spare time? I love my creative releases like reading, writing, and painting. However most of my spare time is spent socializing with other people. I also love being outdoors and athletics.

Do you believe in life after death? Yes I do, although I have no idea how it works.

Favorite color? My favorite color is teal. The amount of teal items I own is getting a bit out of control (I even have a teal can opener and teal measuring cups). I am obsessed with all things teal.

Why did you decide to blog? I decided to start this thread because my friends and family encouraged me a lot to keep writing. They allowed me to believe that I was capable of writing things that others would want to read.

Why did you start this thread? I started this thread because I really value everyone that follows and reads my blogs. I wanted to have the chance to get to know everyone a little better. I have participated in several meet and greats which I have enjoyed greatly. I wanted to create a space on my blog to be a sort of permanent meet and great for my readers.

  5. What are some of your top things on your bucket list?
    – Be happy with who I am and where I am in life.
    – Buy my own home.
    – Buy the classic first generation Ford Mustang I always wanted.

What blog post are you the most proud of? Leave me a link!
    – I’d probably have to choose the “Full Disclosure on Closure” three part series that I wrote about the journey of my divorce. I am enclosing the first part in the link. The remaining two parts can be found after reading the first part.

    http://thehauntedlullaby.com/2015/07/05/full-disclosure-on-closure-part-i/

Who has influenced your writing the most? (i.e. friend, family member, author, fellow blogger).
    – My personal journey of growth and introspection has inspired my writing journey the most as I continue to develop who I am.

    What is your weirdest quirk?
    – I have a bit of OCD with regard to certain things such as making sure doors and windows are locked, stove burners are off, and faucets are not dripping. it is odd because I haven’t had an event in my life that you would assume triggered that behavior. I have to check each of these things multiple times.

What are you most afraid of?
    – Though I am working on it, I still fear failure.

    What makes you happy?
    – Achievement and helping people makes me the most happy. I also like small things such as the windows open and music playing in the background, washing my car, working on a jigsaw puzzle, enjoying a glass of wine, or sitting by a chimenea on a fall day.

What advice would you give your younger self?
    – Understand that sometimes things will just not work out in life. It isn’t because you didn’t work hard enough or give your best. Sometimes you can do everything right and we still fall short. It is part of the nature of life.

    • At least you can rest assured your house will never burn down because you left the stove on.

“Understand that sometimes things will just not work out in life. It isn’t because you didn’t work hard enough or give your best. Sometimes you can do everything right and we still fall short. It is part of the nature of life.” I love this advice. Thank you for sharing!

What are you most afraid of? Failing

  7. What are some of your top things on your bucket list? I haven’t finished compiling yet, but visiting Venice with someone important is definitely going to make the top ten.
What blog post are you the most proud of? I don’t have that many so I haven’t decided yet. You could tell me
Who has influenced your writing the most? Other than the usual writers I like, there’s this blog here that was the one that got me to finally start my own. I’m glad I did, because then I’ve met some great people on WordPress.
What is your weirdest quirk? I’d say it’s my habit of overthinking stuff. but hey, Better safe than sorry, right? When you’re prepared for aliens, you’re ready for anything. Especially the flu.
What are you most afraid of? I’m undecided on this one.
What makes you happy? Making others happy usually does it for me.
What advice would you give your younger self? Stop trying to fit in so hard – it’ll take way too much of your time. Also, study Chemistry more, son.

    Now you.

Where have you always dreamed of living?
    What is your favorite book?
    What is your favorite food?
    What is your favorite movie?
    What music do you prefer?
Tattoos? What are your thoughts? Do you have any?
What is the proudest moment of your life?
What would you change about yourself if given the chance?
What is one thing you would do if you knew for a fact that you could get away with it?

  8. I picked this one for your to be proud of. https://thefancybanana.wordpress.com/2015/06/17/girl-next-to-me/ Only because I had to pick one. You should be proud of them all as it was a hard decision for me to make. If the world is ever ending I am coming to find you and hide in your shelter that is probably already prepared with enough food and supplies. Deal?

Where have you always dreamed of living?
I want to live near a coast. I don’t really care so much where as long as it is near water and not over populated. Somewhere like the
    Carolinas.

    What is your favorite book?
Fiction is Crown Duel. I fell in love with it in highschool and have read it about every year since. It has all of my favorite things: castles, adventure, a fiery kick ass heroine, and mysteries handsome strangers. My favorite non-fiction book is Love Does by Bob Goff.

    What is your favorite food?
Gummies – any and all kinds.

    What is your favorite movie?
The Count of Monte Cristo. I make all of my friends watch it with me. I practically have it memorized.

    What music do you prefer?
I like folk, acoustic, and indie music the best.

Tattoos? What are your thoughts? Do you have any?
I am pro tattoos. I think people with tattoos have stories to tell and those are my favorite type of people.
I go into depth on my thoughts of tattoos in this blog: https://lorirensink.wordpress.com/2015/05/22/whispers-of-love/
I have two tattoos and they both are very meaningful to me. The one on my foot is also explained in the blog above. Then I recently got a phoenix on my rib cage.

What is the proudest moment of your life?
To be honest I am not really sure. But I will just pick one. My senior year of college I graduated at the top of my class for both of my majors even though most weeks I was working about 35 hours at 2 jobs and heavily involved on campus. It was a crazy year, but I knocked it out of the park.

What would you change about yourself if given the chance?
    My teeth.

What is one thing you would do if you knew for a fact that you could get away with it?
I’m sneaky, I always get away with things 😉 But probably breaking into a zoo late at night.

    Those were fun questions!

    • I like your answers.
Thank you so much for taking the time to go through my posts! Means a lot to me.
Food in a post apocalyptic world? there’s one thing I’m completely certain I can do. No one can keep me from food. You have yourself a deal.
I’ve been thinking of getting a tattoo myself. Any ideas? Phoenix sounds good, and I’ve already found how it’s relevant to me.
Sneaking into a zoo sounds like fun! Sneak in and play hide & seek with pandas.

      • Of course, it was my pleasure! Good I am glad that we became friends before the apocalypse.

Oh how exciting! I assume it is your first tattoo? I would love to help you think of ideas. Do you know where you would want to put? Or what you would want it to stand for?

      • Yeah. First one.I’m thinking somewhere on my arm or one side of my chest. Phoenix sounds best right now. I’ve been knocked down, but I still get back up, phoenix from the ashes and all that. Makes sense, right? Maybe a Bible verse. Psalms 23, I think.
        Help me out.

      • Unfortunately I don’t have the magic answer of what you should get because that will have to be something you discover for yourself. But I can help you through the process.

Start by thinking about your life so far. What have you been through? What have you learned? Who have you become? What is important to you? This will help you narrow it down to what theme you want to follow. For example, before I got my phoenix tattoo I knew I wanted something that represented a fierce strength and a unrelenting pursuit of freedom. I looked at bird tattoos for about a year, but none of them felt right. Then I stumbled upon a phoenix tattoo and I just knew. I made my appointment within the next hour.

Contrary to popular belief, most people think about their tattoos for a long time before they get them. So don’t feel frustrated if you aren’t sure what you want yet. The beauty of tattoos is that they require us to do our own self discovery, and then leave a reminder to us always of who we are.

Long story short, if you want to tell me a little bit more about why you want a tattoo and what you want it to mean, then I can try to guide you into at least the right direction, but ultimately it will be your own choice. Hope this was helpful!

      • I’ve been going through lots of changes lately, I’m not completely sure I know who I am. I’ve been finding out a lot about myself, so the decision’s going to be tough. I’m like the polar opposite of who I was in February. Maybe I should think about what remained constant between then and now, and then I’ll get an idea from that?

      • Maybe you should get a phoenix. That is how I felt. Like I had grown and changed so much in one year, which isn’t a bad thing, but it left me grasping for pieces of what was left. I have seen some cool tree and compass tatttoos. Those might work for you as well. Just start looking at ideas, I am sure one will stick out to you.

  9. 1.What are some of your top things on your bucket list? publish my novels, run a marathon
2.What blog post are you the most proud of? A response to the Daily Post prompt, My Dream Teacher, https://kaymorriswrites.wordpress.com/2015/07/21/my-dream-teacher/
3.Who has influenced your writing the most? (i.e. friend, family member, author, fellow blogger). My 7th grade English teacher Cindy Page. She was the first person to encourage me to use my unique voice
4.What is your weirdest quirk? (My weirdest quirk is that I dream anywhere from 1-4 times a night, some of which are lucid dreams. In the rare case I don’t dream, I wake up feeling like I haven’t even slept.) I love to snack on dry old fashioned oats
5.What are you most afraid of? failure
6.What makes you happy? my family and friends
7.What advice would you give your younger self? Relax more and enjoy life

    Your friend and fellow introvert,
    ~kay

    • “Your friend and fellow introvert” This made me happy 🙂 Also dry oats? That is a weird quirk, but I don’t judge. Your post got me a little teary eyed. I am sorry for your loss. My mom is a cancer survivor (I was only about 4 when she got it), and it scares me to imagine how different my life could have been. I have only recently begun to appreciate all that my mother has taught me. Thank you for sharing Kay!

      • Introverts, unite! Well, not that we would really would, but you know get the gist 🙂
I admit, eating dry oats is very quirky. I can be a bit eccentric so I asked my husband what he considered most bizarre, and he replied without hesitation.
I am so glad the post touched you. I rarely share personal and heartfelt things in such an open forum, so this was a huge leap for me. That is why I so proud of the post!

      • Haha the introvert club, where we never meet. How often do you eat dry oats? Is it like a daily thing? I know a girl who likes to eat dry noodles I think that is always weird.

Yes I totally understand, it can be hard to share personal stuff. But you did a great job, I would like to read more 🙂

      • So, I snack on dry oats daily. I try to watch what I eat so it is a snack for me.
I’m trying to be more open. Somewhere buried deep inside, there is a bit of an extrovert waiting to be discovered. I am working up the courage to do so.

      • Daily? That’s a fantastic quirk. I understand completely. When I went to college I let my inner extrovert out and then settled somewhere in the middle closer to the introvert side. As introvert we often think deeply about life and such and we have really great thoughts that our worthy of sharing but we never have the courage to share them. For me it has gotten easier to share those things on a blog with people who don’t really know me, but then to share that blog on facebook with my friends and family is a whole lot harder.

  10. You commented on my post, and people that comment on my posts happen to be very rad, so let’s be friends, yeah.

What are some of your top things on your bucket list?
Learning Spanish, since I’m from Spain but never grew up to learn the language / Travelling the world (duh) / Learning to get get over stuff (doing a good job so far)

What blog post are you the most proud of? Leave me a link!
Ugh, I haven’t really been that active on my blog tbh… But the Tinder-post you commented on? I liked that.

Who has influenced your writing the most? (i.e. friend, family member, author, fellow blogger).
John Niven, I guess, with his unapologetic observation of human flaws.

What is your weirdest quirk? (My weirdest quirk is that I dream anywhere from 1-4 times a night, some of which are lucid dreams. In the rare case I don’t dream, I wake up feeling like I haven’t even slept.)
Uhm… I can arch my hands so they look like spiders? I guess?

What are you most afraid of?
Failing, i.e. never making my dreams come true.

    What makes you happy?
    Music and escapism.

What advice would you give your younger self?
STOP GIVING THIS MANY FUCKS ABOUT EVERY SINGLE THING YOU DO. NOONE CARES.
    In a good way.

    • Yay I am so excited to be friends! I also want to learn Spanish. I went to Africa this past winter and they could all speak about 7 languages and at least were fluent. I felt like only knowing one language makes me feel either uncultured or conceited (expecting others to just know and speak my language). So I have been trying (not very successfully) to learn Spanish. Spider hands?? Do you have flexible fingers/joints? I am music obsessed, what are some of your favorite artists?

  11. I love this page on your blog. Its unique and lovely! Let me answer your questions real quick –

What are some of your top things on your bucket list? Visit all the countries in the world, get published and feature as a bestseller
What blog post are you the most proud of? Leave me a link! – It is this short story in five parts. This is the link to the first part – http://coffeeandmusings.com/2014/06/18/the-kiss-that-never-happened/
Who has influenced your writing the most? (i.e. friend, family member, author, fellow blogger) – I would have to say F Scott Fitzgerald.
What is your weirdest quirk? (My weirdest quirk is that I dream anywhere from 1-4 times a night, some of which are lucid dreams. In the rare case I don’t dream, I wake up feeling like I haven’t even slept.) – Ah, this one is weird. I have imagined in my head a thousand times and over how we were to deal with the world coming to an end. It could be through a zombie apocalypse and simply, something to do with global warming.
What are you most afraid of? Not being able to complete writing a book ever!
What makes you happy? Coffee, Travel, Writing…honestly, little things make me immensely happy.
What advice would you give your younger self? – Don’t get caught up in the rat race. Just let everything go and take life by its horns each day. Live not knowing what you are going to do tomorrow or where would you head!

    • I loved that short story, when I get the chance I hope to read the rest. I too hate games. I think they are stupid and counterproductive. You and KJ both have plans for the apocalyptic world, I am lucky to have the two of you as friends. “Coffee, Travel, Writing” These make me happy as well 🙂 Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing a little bit about yourself, I am glad you liked the page!
